Mary Hoogeveen

 

Mary is a visual artist whose exhibited work has included landscapes, plant studies and unusual beadwork. Her artwork includes landscapes in watercolor and acrylics, with subjects drawn from Humboldt county and the western US. Her garden has been another source of inspiration, especially for colored pencil studies of tone and form.

She is widely known locally as a weaver whose textile creations have been shown in years past at the Mateel Cooperative Gallery

Mary is largely self-taught, with assists from the county library, secondhand bookstores and artistic association with another Mateel gallery artist Ralphie Hendrix, a widely recognized pastel artist.
